Resveratrol is a substance that some scientists have proven can extend life by more than 50% in lower invertebrate animals. Resveratrol does not originate in the animal kingdom at all but in the plant kingdom. This substance is produced by plants to fight infection and invasion from foreign bodies. Resveratrol has a mass of 228.24 moles and frighteningly enough contains two benzene rings. In case you don’t recognize the significance of the benzene ring, usually agents that cause cancer contain benzene rings. Resveratrol has shown the ability to extend the life of some lower organisms by more than 50%. Taken as a supplement in humans, it is unlikely to show the concentration level high enough to extend life by 50%, but it could show a significantly lower benefit and still be worth ingesting. The levels in the experiments where life was extended by 50% showed resveratrol levels so high that it could be toxic. This means that the chemical level was incredibly high in the animals tested. This is an impractical level to achieve in ordinary humans. So virtually any benefit in taking supplements is always a mathematical fraction of laboratory results. Laboratory results require megadoses of chemicals, and are virtually never practical. Only human clinical trials mimic field tests of supplements and very few organizations have the money or will to field test supplements.

The most succinct question is what is a year or two of your life worth? We know this particular biochemical extends life in animals, but it hasn’t been proven. We know that extremely high doses are required to maximize the effects. But if supplements can extend your life by even a few months, is it worth it to you? I contend that a year of your life is priceless and most of us would be crazy not to take this substance. Think about it.

Muscadines are a great source of the plant immunity chemical resveratrol. This natural substance is produced when plants fight off pathogens like fungi or bacteria. Scientists have isolated this chemical and made it available in supplements. The most common derivative comes from Japanese knotweed. The use of muscadines is related to their resveratrol content. Red wine has been noted in more than 500 clinical studies for positive health effects. Most of these effects are related to cancer reduction, immunity and anti-oxidants. The current theory is that resveratrol is the active ingredient in red wine. Unfortunately other trials have shown that drinking large amounts of wines are not sufficient to achieve the blood concentrations necessary for life extension due to resveratrol. The quality of resveratrol is not significantly different between the muscadine and knotweed, but with muscadines the drinker gets some added anti-oxidants not present in knotweed. Please remember that all of the strongest anti-oxidants on Earth come from fruit and berries with purple skin. Consequently red wine is awash in strong anti-oxidants. This situation is ideal for cancer prevention and flushing the body of toxic substances. Unknown to most people, the human body produces toxic oxygenic agents called superoxides. Superoxides are the primary poison produced by animal respiration. This is a substance that some scientists say helps us age and result in “natural death”. Hence the expression: “breathing is killing us”. Anti-oxidants grab and eliminate superoxides. Powerful anti-oxidants can destroy many superoxide molecules and clean our systems of this poison. So there is not a one-to-one ratio in the cleaning reaction, a single anti-oxidant molecule and neutralize many superoxide molecules. Red wines enhance this affect by washing our systems with several different types of anti-oxidants in each swallow. These same benefits come with the muscadine version of resveratrol. This is made from the skin of the grape. This is a highly recommended form of resveratrol, but for many other reasons other than just resveratrol. Red wine comes from grapes and almost any purple berry packs a strong anti-oxidant punch.

Resveratrol is a substance contained in almost all grape skins. This includes wine grapes, muscadines and most green and red grapes. We do need to pause and illustrate that red grapes contain more anti-oxidants per pound than white grapes. This is true of most purple berries and grapes. The purple fruits contain the most anti-oxidants pound-per-pound than any other fruit. Purchasing a red wine specifically for resveratrol is not necessary. This substance is present in almost any red wine. Now it is true that some red wines contain more anti-oxidants than others. For instance, a wine made from blueberries would contain more anti-oxidants than one made of commercial wine grapes. A wine made of goji berries would contain more anti-oxidants than one made of blueberries and so forth, but I have to emphasize one thing. The taste of some these odd wines would probably not be very appealing. Skins play a critical role in getting the anti-oxidant to your system and skins are not present in most liquid wines. So there is another caution flag. The best way to enjoy a wine highest in this substance is to leave bits on intact skin in the wine. This doesn’t sound very appetizing for drinking though.

An easier approach is to simply enjoy your glass of red wine just like you do now. The amount of resveratrol is significantly lower but it is still present. Another approach is to have a bowl of blueberries or Goji berries each week. This solution is cheaper than wine and lower in calories than alcohol but much lower than resveratrol supplements. Superoxides build up in our bodies and only a strong anti-oxidant can take care of them. What solutions do you have to deal with premature aging and fighting cancer? I strongly suggest you take a look at resveratrol supplements because the levels are much higher and your benefits will come faster than drinking red wine alone.

Resveratrol is a substance contained in plants that is released during an immune reaction. Resveratrol has been shown to reduce blood sugar and increase the metabolism in lower mammals. Some people believe it enhances the SIRT1 gene in humans. The SIRT1 gene is one associated with humans who naturally have a higher metabolism. These are the people who eat burgers and fries at 40 and burn it off naturally. I guess we all wish we had that one. The idea is that supplementation of this chemical messenger caused mice in the laboratory to have higher endurance and an increase in food metabolism. The associated blood sugar decrease supports this argument.

Later other researchers independently confirmed that human metabolism containing this same gene could act the same way. The research did not confirm that resveratrol boosts human metabolism but may have the ability to boost it. Unfortunately no clinical trials are on-going to confirm that resveratrol boosts human metabolism. In the absence of clinical trials, only blood sugar has been confirmed as a side-effect of the resveratrol dosing.

The latest study of resveratrol did confirm in higher mammals that resveratrol inhibits the formations of plaques in animal brains. This is significant because Alzheimer’s disease works by forming deadly plaques in the brain. Other debilitating illnesses work by clogging the brain with harmful plaque-like substances. These illnesses are characterized by forgetfulness, dementia and loss and damage of cerebral tissue. Brain plaque reduction was not a process that researchers were expecting or looking for. In looking at resveratrol overall it appears as a chemical messenger it acts like a “fountain of youth”. This substance enhances metabolism to keep us fit, it decreases many of the mental signs of age like memory loss and dementia and it removes impurities and toxins from our bodies – purifying the body. Chemically it appears that enhancing metabolism is merely the tip of the iceberg. Perhaps resveratrol is the fountain of youth?

Resveratrol is a substance contained in almost all grape skins, and purple berries. The substance has been investigated for its capabilities in extending life. Life extension is an interesting concept. The idea that life can be extended presupposes that we are all born with an expiration date. Indeed the human body does have a characteristic known as “programmed cell death”. During growth in the womb, programmed cell death destroyed the webbing between our fingers as they were once webbed like a duck’s feet. The hypothesis is that substances like resveratrol can delay the chemical messenger telling our bodies to generate dangerous neoplasms (cancers) that can end our lives. These hypotheses require much contemplation, but suppose they are right? If so, then substances like resveratrol are indeed gold. It means that literally a person who takes this substance is delaying death. This is not the current line of thinking in the medical community but it has been raised by some scientists. Modern medicine says that we all have choices and those who make the wisest choices live the longest – or do they? What about famous people who smoke for 40 years? There are quite a few. What about obese people who live to 80? There are two required hypotheses to arrive at the resveratrol way of thinking. One supposition is that we can’t control ourselves and ultimately will give into our bad habits. The second is that we are destined to have an average life expectancy based on our genetic predisposition. For example if your parents lived to 80, you will probably live to 80. But what if you took resveratrol? Will you live to 90? Will you live to 100? Nobody knows right now, but the questions are delightful. No long range study has been done to see if megadoses of resveratrol contribute to longer lives. Unfortunately any study of this magnitude will take a lifetime to complete. Too bad we won’t be around to see the result.

Resveratrol is a substance that is commonly manufactered from Japanese knotweed. Knotweed is a substance that grows all over the world. It is commonly associated with grasses and herbs because of its green and leafy appearance. Knotweed commonly grows in ponds and aquatic environments, and it is found on almost every continent. The knotweed plant is actually a part of the buckwheat family and it is eaten during famines as a last resort. Obviously it is not poisonous nor causes gastric disturbances. The biochemical resveratrol is available in this plant in great quantities. The Japanese variety is easily harvested, and rich in this anti-oxidant and age-fighting chemical.

Resveratrol enters the body via digestion and goes into the blood as an anti-oxidant metabolite to fight cancers, infections, etc. Most people don’t know it but our best defense against cancer is our own immune system. Our body should clean up and destroy damaged cells. If the body is able to recognize damaged or deformed cells as a foreign substance, it can eliminate those cells before they clump together and form a tumor. Anti-oxidants play a key role in our immune response. Toxins and foreign cells must be routinely removed from our bodies. Our biochemical process of respiration is the biggest producer of poisons in our system. Most people think digestion is. Many of us think that the foods we eat are poisoning our systems and to some degree this is actually true, but respiration is the largest contributor to the toxins in our blood. Superoxides and other respiration by-products like carbon dioxide must be removed. Our blood is constantly being cleansed by our lungs, liver, spleen and kidneys of all manner of toxins. A terrific amount of body energy is used just to keep our blood clear of the dazzling array of toxins produced by breathing, eating and drinking. Knotweed resveratrol is a substance we can take that aids this anti-oxidant fight. The key to free radicals like superoxide is that they reduce lifespan and reduce the body’s ability to repair itself. Substances like knotweed, grape skin and grape seed all seem to contain copious amounts of anti-oxidants. These substances in all forms are highly recommended tools for helping your body repair itself. Drinking red wine once a week is highly recommended as well as taking resveratrol supplements made from Japanese knotweed. Please note that Turkish knotweed and Indian knotgrass are just as good. Virtually any good knotgrass or grape skin is filled with strong anti-oxidants. Don’t forget this note while shopping.

Resveratrol is a substance contained in almost all grape skins, and purple berries. The substance has been investigated for its capabilities in reducing cancer and has been proven to lower blood sugar in lower mammals. Resveratrol capsules are the form most often used to take resveratrol as a supplement. Most weight-loss supplements are merely caffeine and a few plant extracts. But resveratrol supplements are significantly different. These capsules are composed mostly of Japanese knotweed and a few other herbs. They should not contain stimulants of any kind. Resveratrol is a substance associated with anti-oxidants and longer life. There is no expected immediate benefit from taking such a substance. The primary benefits should be seen later in life or theoretically should be seen immediately in diabetic patients. Lowering and controlling blood sugar has been seen consistently with this substance in lower mammals. Please note than lower mammals typically refers to mice, dogs, pigs and cows. These animals are commonly used in laboratory experimentation. They experienced very severe drops in elevated blood sugar after consuming large quantities of resveratrol. The mechanism for this action is not well understood but the fact is that this characteristic of the biochemical is present in both invertebrates and vertebrates and mammals. One thing seen in most research is that substances affect mammals differently than other members of the animal kingdom. For instance there are more than 5 substances that can cure cancer in rats but they have no effect whatsoever in humans. Conversely resveratrol can extend life in fish by more than 56% but can’t perform that function in dogs no matter the level of concentration. Mammals’ body systems are vastly different from that of other animals. Being warm-blooded affects the way our bodies process chemical messages and the way we metabolize food and respirate. All of these factors affect the way we respond to resveratrol. Taking this substance by capsule as a supplement is a very good move because even at a lower level, there could a minute lifespan increase of 1 – 2 years. How much is year of life worth to you?

Resveratrol is a substance contained in plants that some believe may help fight breast cancer. The scientific community has been buzzing over resveratrol because of its role in fighting cancers and inhibiting cancer’s formation. The miracle of resveratrol has been associated with many types of processes like increasing metabolism in mammals, lowering blood sugar and reducing plaques in the brain. This helps us fight Alzheimer’s disease and other neurologically debilitating illnesses. Oddly enough, all these chemicals and processes are associated with getting old. Some people in the scientific community think resveratrol contains many of the properties we need to master to reduce the signs of aging. Now let us consider breast cancer.
The debate around breast cancer is a very hot one. This is because chemically resveratrol looks like a plant estrogen. That’s right. It looks like a plant-based estrogen. In mammals estrogens are used to gain weight, and they often elevate blood sugar. They are also known for causing cancer! Estrogens are commonly used in the cattle and chicken farming industries. Food advocates rail against such substances. Estrogens in food are banned in many countries throughout the world, but not in the United States and Germany. Americans eat more estrogens than just about any other nation of Earth – and we are some of the fattest people of Earth. Chemically resveratrol looks like an estrogen, but it isn’t. In the body it actually seems to act like the opposite of an estrogen. It appears to reduce blood sugar and increase the metabolic rate in mammals. Some scientists say that any substance like resveratrol can only increase the cancer risk and cause death. Other biochemists say that each individual product of nature has to be tested in the body of the target population and you can’t guess this from the molecular matrix. From the pharmaceutical industry’s experience with Viagra, I am inclined to agree with the latter supposition. Viagra was a huge surprise in the drug world, and chemically, no one would have guessed this simple organic matrix could produce erections all around the world. You can’t look at a drug and guess what it does. Nature just doesn’t work that way and all data gathered to the present says it inhibits cancer, not promotes it.

Resveratrol is a natural agent produced by plants as an immune reaction to foreign agents. Researchers have found that this agent can extend the life of invertebrates when it is introduced at high dosage levels. This is a highly unusual reaction to a foreign substance. What is even more odd is that the life extension is more than 50% greater than the average lifespan of some of the invertebrates tested! Could you imagine if resveratrol could help you live to the age of 150? Let’s look more deeply.
Resveratrol has shown the ability to prevent cancers and provides added resistance to cancer initiators. Some substances like benzene, radiation and pesticides cause cancer. In the presence of strong cancer initiators, resveratrol populations had lower cancer instances. This substance seems to truly be a miracle substance. I would caution however that there have been some drawbacks. It appears resveratrol hasn’t shown a very high instance of protection in mammals as it has shown in lower animals. This has not been explained in the research, but is not uncommon. Throughout the animal kingdom, incredible results can appear in lower animals, but are absent in humans. This seems to be the case in some of the effects of resveratrol. These effects are not proven in higher mammals or in mammals in general, but show tremendous results in invertebrates. Recently, a research team proved that very high levels of resveratrol increased the lifespan of a short-lived fish by 56%. This was the first time that a vertebrate showed significant life extension from this plant immunity biochemical. Current trials are on-going in mice, monkeys and higher-level mammals. The previous chemical trials on plants like yeast showed that this chemical literally acts as a fountain of youth boosting lifespan by more than 50%. This is an effect seen in chemotherapy drugs, vaccines and many other drugs. The person taking resveratrol supplements should be cautiously aware that there is no laboratory proof that this substance works in higher mammals, but if it does, there will be HUGE benefit for the person taking it. Taking resveratrol is an incredible insurance policy.
