Any "diet" that requires you omit or severely limit an entire food group will fail in the long run. I define a successful diet as something you do for the rest of your life rather than something you just do for however long.

If your goal is to lose weight then you need to consume fewer calories than you expend.

To find out how many calories you require to maintain your weight go here:

    http://www.caloriecontrol.org/calcalcs.html

Once you know how many calories you need subtract 300-500. That will be the amount of calories you need to consume in order to lose weight.

I always suggest that folks start here:
    http://www.mypyramid.gov/STEPS/stepstoahealthierweight.html

That is the mypyramid.gov website. It is a great place to go for basic information as to what to eat and how much of each food group. It also tells you what foods belong to what food groups.

I would also highly suggest you track your food intake. Most people don’t realize how many calories they are actually consuming. Studies indicate that most people underestimate by at least 500 calories a day. That adds up to mucho pounds over time!

And just think, what if you are actually underestimating the number of calories you eat? You might be able to get more food if you only knew exactly how many calories you were eating

And no, you don’t have to track and log food forever. Just long enough until you have an idea of how much you should be eating and what calorie level works best for you. After a while you get to know how many calories you’re eating because we pretty much all have a fairly limited number of foods we eat on a regular basis.

http://www.nutritiondata and http://www.fitday.com are great places to track your food and calorie intake fairly easily.

There is no right or wrong diet for every person. We are all different. I’ve tried many popular diet programs. None worked for me because oddly, I require more calories than most diets allow. I also have to limit my carbohydrates – even the healthy ones like whole grains. My body just doesn’t respond well to them. For others carbohydrates aren’t a problem. That’s why I always suggest starting with the basics as laid out in the food pyramid. If that doesn’t work then you can begin to change things up – limit carbs, increase protein, eat more, eat less…it will all depend on the individual. You just need to start with the basics first.

It depends on what you mean by "doesnt take away everything" A successful diet does take away things. The key is avoiding grains starches and sugars. It is this stuff that makes you gain and retain bodyfat.

The diets that work are low carb, high protein, moderate fat. They work because this is how humans are supposed to eat. Bread is unnatural, cereal is unnatural. These foods promote ill-health and make you fat. Vegetables are natural, lean meat is natural. These foods make you healthy and lose bodyfat. Simple.

If you want "named diets" that work then I can recommend either the Zone or Paleo. Or Paleo foods at Zone prescriptions. If you feel hungry on those "diets", then you’re doing them wrong.

there are a few important rules to dieting. first, low carbs and low sugar. include 20 minutes of cardio a day (brisk walking). try not to snack between meals. ive heard bad things about acai100… if you want to max out on antioxidants, take natures best acai. i even heard about it on oprah. they harvest the acai berries, and immediately freeze dry them to ensure they capture the most antioxidants. its not a free product, but it works well. check out http://rachelsdiet.com/offer1.php
